Low-cost airlines IndiGo has started processing a full refund to travel agencies and direct customers for tickets booked after March 25 for travel till May 3.
As per the DGCA’s advisory on 16th April airline to provide a full refund to passengers within three weeks from the date of request.
“As per the recent DGCA guidelines, new bookings made between 25th March’20 and 14th April’20 for travel between 25th March 2020 and 3rd May 2020 are eligible for a full refund.”
“The refund will be processed within 3 weeks for those who meet the requirement,” Indigo said in a communication.
Indigo also start processing a full refund of group booking as well the airline said for group bookings travel agent or customer needs to send an email on grouprequest.goindigo.in
For the rest of customers indigo is providing credit shell to use in future bookings.
As per the DGCA’s advisory, the full refund policy is applicable on both Domestic as well as foreign operator engaged in domestic and international air travel in India, but still only Indigo has started processing full cash refunds to customers and travel agents.
While the other Indian airlines like Spicejet, GoAir, AirAsia India, Vistara and Air India are still reviewing the DGCA’s advisory or just proving credit shell or credit note.
