Air India International Flights On January 01 Under Vande Bharat Mission

The Govt. of India on May 06, 2020, has started the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ to repatriate Indians stranded all over the world due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Indian national carrier Air India and its wholly-owned subsidiary Air India Express earlier this week have announced their schedule for the month of January 2021.

In December 2021, Air India will operate flights from Bangkok, Colombo, Kuwait, Nairobi, Rome, Singapore, Sydney, Tel Aviv, and Yangon.

While Air India Express will operate over 1700 flights to and from 6 countries viz. Bahrain, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, and UAE under the Vande Bharat Mission and Air Bubble Arrangements.

The Ministry of External Affairs has already extended Phase 8 of Vande Bharat Mission. Currently, the mission is in its Phase 8+

“Under this extended phase called Phase 8 Plus, 2200+ international flights have been scheduled to operate from 15 countries with a capacity to repatriate an estimated 1.5 lakh people.”

As per the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MocA), 12,583 repatriation flights were operated by the Air India Group under the Vande Bharat Mission till December 29, carrying over 16.71 lakh passengers. Of these, 6,289 were inbound flights carrying 10.21 lakh passengers and 6,294 were outbound flights with 6.49 lakh fliers.
