Visa Waiver: UK Launches ETA Scheme for Qatari Nationals

Today marks a historic milestone as the United Kingdom officially opens its Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme for Qatari nationals. Simple and Fast Application Process for Qataris

Qataris have been able to apply for their ETA since October 25, 2023, primarily utilizing the user-friendly mobile app. This efficient application method aims to streamline the process, ensuring a hassle-free experience for travellers.

Gulf Nationals to Follow Suit

While Qatari nationals are the pioneers in benefiting from the ETA scheme, nationals of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan will require an ETA starting from February 22, 2024. Applications for these nations open on February 1, 2024.

ETA: A Cost-effective and Convenient Alternative

The ETA replaces Electronic Visa Waivers (EVW), offering a more economical option at £10. It allows unlimited visits to the UK over two years or until the passport expires. Importantly, the ETA removes the visa requirement for short stays, marking a positive shift for nationals from the Gulf and Jordan.

Streamlined Application Process

Applicants must provide biographic and biometric information, along with answers to suitability and criminality questions. The processing time is typically three working days, though many applications have been approved within hours.
