UAE Authority Clarifies Emirates ID Card Requirements, Denies Social Media Rumours

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a statement denying rumours circulating on social media platforms that GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) citizens can obtain the Emirates ID card for free.

The statement, which was posted on the authority’s official Twitter account, cautions the public about promotional information attributed to them that is circulating on social media platforms.

The post confirms that the information is false and clarifies that obtaining an Emirates ID necessitates meeting specific requirements, which are subject to terms and conditions based on governing decisions.

The Authority’s Statement

In the statement, the authority advised the community to ignore the rumours and seek accurate information from verified channels and official government sources.

The statement highlights that the population registry process to obtain an Emirates ID card has not undergone any changes and still follows the same standard procedures.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizen, Customs and Ports Security denies the promotional information attributed to it and circulated through social media channels about enabling citizens of the GCC to get the Emirates ID card for a fee only. The population registry to get the Emirates ID card requires fulfilling the requirements and is subject to terms & conditions in accordance with the regulating decisions, which have not undergone any changes.

The Authority calls on all community members to ignore the aforementioned rumour and to seek correct information from the authority’s verified channels and official government sources.
