UAE Residents Can Now Get Their Emirates ID Within 24 Hours

The service is available for UAE and GCC nationals for first-time registration, renewal of expired cards, and lost or damaged cards. Expatriate residents who are not GCC nationals are eligible only for replacement cards.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) in the UAE has launched an urgent service to provide residents with an Emirates ID card within 24 hours.

The service, known as ‘Fawri’ is available to UAE nationals and GCC nationals who are legally residing in the UAE of all ages. This service is available for first-time registration, renewal of expired cards, and replacement of lost or damaged cards.

Exceptions for Expatriate Residents

However, the urgent service is only available to expatriate residents who are not GCC nationals in the event that their identity cards need to be replaced. According to the website, issuance or renewal of identity cards for this category is linked to proof of residency and other procedures.

Steps to Avail Fawri Service

Residents who wish to use the Fawri service should go to any of the Customer Happiness Centres listed on the official UAE government portal and present the necessary documents.

The Fawri service is available at the following ICP Customer’s Happiness Centres:

  1. Al Jazeera and Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi
  2. Al Barsha, Al Rashidiya and Karama in Dubai
  3. Madinat Zayed in the Western Region
  4. Al Ain Centre
  5. Sharjah Centre
  6. Ajman Centre
  7. Fujairah Centre
  8. Ras Al Khaimah Centre
  9. Umm Al Quwain Centre

Fees for Fawri Service

Residents must pay the regular stated fees as well as an “urgent service” fee in order to obtain their Emirates ID within 24 hours.

The cost of obtaining an Emirates ID under the “urgent service” is AED 150 for the application and AED 100 for the card issuance, according to the ICP website.
