Recently, the country has scrapped the visa requirement and become visa-free for travellers from 32 countries, including India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Brazil, and more.

2. Kenya

Kenya, known for its breathtaking wildlife and stunning landscapes, has recently announced visa-free entry for all international visitors including India from January onwards. Instead of navigating visa applications, visitors will now access an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) through a dedicated online platform.

This move aims to boost tourism and strengthen cultural ties between the two nations, making it easier for Indians to explore the wonders of Kenyan safaris.

3. Malaysia

Malaysia, a popular destination for its vibrant culture and modern infrastructure, has scrapped visa requirements for Indian travellers starting December 01. However, visa-free travellers need to fulfil the visa-free entry requirements and apply for the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).

This decision is expected to enhance tourism, trade, and business collaborations between the two countries, fostering stronger bilateral relations.

4. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, renowned for its pristine beaches and rich cultural heritage, has eased travel for nationals from seven countries including India, China, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan by waiving visa requirements.

This development will likely attract more Indian visitors, fostering greater people-to-people connections. This new initiative, which is part of a pilot program to rebuild the tourism industry, will be in effect until March 31, 2024.

5. Thailand

Thailand, a perennial favourite among Indian tourists, has announced a visa waiver program for travellers from India and Taiwan, until May 2024. This means travellers from these countries will be able to enter Thailand without a visa and stay for up to 30 days.

With its vibrant cities, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural experiences, Thailand continues to be a top choice for Indian travellers seeking diverse holiday options.

Future Considerations

In addition to the listed countries, numerous others have relaxed visa rules for Indian travellers in 2023. Excitingly, Indonesia and Vietnam are contemplating full visa waivers for Indians, with announcements expected to unfold as a potential New Year surprise.

6. Indonesia – (Proposal for Free Visa Under Review)

Recently, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism has proposed offering free entry visas to citizens from 20 countries including India, Australia, China, Germany, the US, the UK and others, which is currently under review.

If approved, this move could significantly boost tourism between the two countries, providing Indians with easier access to Indonesia’s enchanting landscapes and cultural treasures.

7. Vietnam – (Considering Visa Waiver for Indian Visitors)

Vietnam is actively considering easing visa requirements for Indian travellers. The proposal for visa waivers for Indian and Chinese nationals was discussed in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Currently, Vietnam permits visa-free travel for tourists from select European Union countries, such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden.

The recent wave of countries waiving visa requirements for Indian travellers reflects a positive trend in global travel facilitation. As these nations strive to enhance bilateral relations and promote tourism, Indian travellers can look forward to more seamless and enjoyable experiences across borders.

Remember, visa requirements can change, so always double-check with the respective embassy or consulate before your trip. Additionally, some countries might require you to obtain an electronic travel authorization (ETA) or pay a landing fee upon arrival.
