AirAsia, the leading low-cost airline, has rolled out an enticing promotion for travel enthusiasts, offering a one-way, all-inclusive fare of RM189 to seven vibrant destinations in South India.

The promotion, valid until December 24, 2024, comes in celebration of the recent announcement of visa-free travel from India to Malaysia.

Celebrating Visa-Free Travel

AirAsia Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Riad Asmat, unveiled this limited-time offer, emphasizing its significance in fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

“This initiative marks a significant milestone in fostering stronger ties between the two nations, and to commemorate this, AirAsia has also announced the launch of a new route, Thiruvananthapuram, starting Feb 21, 2024,” said Asmat during the AirAsia Celebrates Visa-Free Announcement event held on Thursday.

Travel Period and Increased Services

The travel period for these destinations is effective immediately and extends until September 30, 2024.

In addition to this promotion, AirAsia has revealed plans for a substantial increase in services between Malaysia and India, boasting an impressive 69 weekly flights scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2024. This expansion is expected to provide up to 1.5 million seats per year.

Riad Asmat further announced the airline’s intention to introduce flights to Jaipur, Goa, Varanasi, and Vizag by the first half of the upcoming year, starting with Jaipur.

“We are certain that this recent initiative will allow for more Indian travellers to visit Malaysia and beyond, affordably,” expressed Asmat, adding that the airline is optimistic about ending 2023 on a high note, heralding promising beginnings for the travel sector in the new year.

Malaysia’s Visa-Free Entry Initiative

In tandem with AirAsia’s promotion, the Malaysian government recently granted a 30-day visa-free entry for citizens of China and India from December 1, 2023. This move is part of the celebration of the 50-year strategic partnership between Malaysia and China set for the next year.

Riad Asmat expressed hopes to further expand the airline’s fleet and routes, with plans for additional aircraft taking to the skies in the upcoming year.

“We look forward to working closely with the government and other stakeholders to further pivot Malaysia’s tourism scene to its fullest potential,” he added.
