VFS Global, an outsourcing and technology services company on Friday, November 11 announced the launch of a new platform for travellers who wish to extend their Thailand Visa.
Notably, in order to make visa extensions easier for travellers, the Immigration Bureau of Thailand has partnered with VFS Global to launch the digital ‘eExtension‘ platform.

VFS Global also twitted about the same and said, “Immigration Bureau of Thailand in collaboration with VFS Global has launched the digital eExtension platform making the process seamless for visitors seeking to extend their stay in Thailand.”
It is worth noting here that the Southeast Asian country has recently announced visa extensions for tourists from countries/territories eligible for visa exemption and visa on arrival to Thailand, which will be effective from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.

How to apply for a Thai Visa e-Extension?
Travellers who wish to extend their Visa can apply for the same through the newly launched eExtension website by following the below-mentioned simple steps;
Step 1: Provide the Application details and upload the necessary Documents
Your application can be submitted via the VFS website. The first step in using the E-Extension application is to create an account on the website. Provide all requested information and upload any required documents.
Step 2: Book an appointment and pay the fees online
After providing all of the necessary information, you must schedule an appointment by selecting a date for receiving an E-Extension visa stamp in your passport. Then you’ll have to pay the fee through the Payment gateway. Fees can be paid with a MasterCard, Visa, Union Pay credit/debit card, WeChat, or Alipay.
It is not required that the card is in your name. Check to see if your card has a “3D Secure System” and is capable of international transactions.
Step 3: Get the E-Extension visa stamp at the Immigration
If your fee payment is successful and your application is processed with an approved E-Extension code, you will receive a decision in the form of a pdf file. You could download and print the necessary documents for your own use. The VFS Global also recommend keeping a copy of the pdf file on your phone.
Priority Visa Extension
You can also apply for a super urgent visa service to expedite the processing of your E-Extension visa. You can get your E-Extension decision the next day (only business day) by paying an additional fee, allowing you to get an E-Extension visa stamp on short notice.
At the Immigration office
Once you apply for the Thailand Visa Extension you need to visit the immigration office with the approved E-Extension visa, follow the steps mentioned below:
- Go to the E-Extension area at immigration and join the queue at the E-Extension counter.
- Present the necessary required documents and passport to the officer.
- Get the E-Extension visa stamp.
Visa Extension Fees
After submitting your information and the other required documents, you must pay the application fee. The fees for an E-Extension visa would be (non – refundable online processing fee, inclusive of all charges) as follows:
- Visa Fee: 1,900 THB
The service fee is as follows:
- Regular Service fee: 500 THB
- Express Service fee: 1,500 THB
- Super urgent service fee to be 5,000 THB
Processing Time for Visa Extension
The E-Extension processing time is usually between 1 and 7 working days. If your application has been delayed for more than seven business days, it is advisable to contact VFS Global.
If you chose the super urgent visa service, your E-Extension will be processed the very next day (only business day).
