US Consulate in Hyderabad, India recently announced the schedule for student visa appointments for the upcoming season. Per the announcement, the first round of appointments will be available in mid-May, with additional appointments becoming available later in the season.
The consulate also advised students who wish to study in the United States to prepare for their appointments in order to ensure a smooth process.
“Attention students! In mid-May, the U.S. Mission to India will open the first batch of appointments for the upcoming student visa season. Additional appointments will be released later in the season. Prepare for your appointments and stay tuned for more student visa-related announcements!,” said US Consulate in a Tweet.

Prohibited Items Inside the US Consulate in Hyderabad
The US Consulate in Hyderabad recently released a video detailing the prohibited items at its Nanakramguda facility to ensure a smooth and efficient process. Visitors, including US citizens, must go through security screening upon arrival, and certain items are not permitted inside the consulate.
According to the latest update, the following items are prohibited at the consulate:
- Cell phones
- Battery-operated or electronic devices,
- Bags including purses, travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, and suitcases (Unsealed plastic bags, small cloth bags and zip folders)
- Food or drink items
- Cosmetics
- Sealed envelopes or packages
- Flammable items
- Sharp objects
- Weapons
- Long-handled umbrellas, and
- Powders of any kind, including religious-related powders or spices.
It went on to say that visitors must have government-issued identification with them at all times and that it must be the original document. Notably, photocopies of IDs are not accepted.
Visitors to the US Consulate in Hyderabad must also ensure that the name on their identification matches the name on their appointment.
US Consulate in Hyderabad relocates to Nanakramguda
The US Consulate in Hyderabad has a new facility at Sy. No. 115/1, Financial District, Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, Telangana, 500032. The consulate houses the United States’ largest diplomatic mission in South Asia.
The consulate office was built with a USD 340 million investment on a 12.2-acre site and has 54 visa processing windows.
The consulate officially ended its lease at Paigah Palace on March 15, 2023, and began operations at the new facility on March 20, 2023.
