Travellers to the UAE, here is an important update: the UAE Federal authorities have reduced the Visa overstay fine by Dh50, which means that tourists who stay in the country after their visa validity has expired will now face a Dh50 per day fine rather than a Dh100 fine.
However, the fine for overstaying while in possession of a residency permit has increased from Dh25 per day to Dh50.
The new visa overstay fines comes into effect from October 03rd after the UAE govt implemented the new entry and residence visa regulations. Prior to this, the Visa overstay fines were calculated based on the type of expired visa.
A spokesperson from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security said, “the new system unified the number of overstay fines to Dh50 per day for any type of visa violator.”
“The overstay fine payment can be paid either by visiting happiness centres or online through the authority website and smart application,” he further added.
Visa Overstay Fine in UAE
According to the latest updates from the Federal Authority of the UAE, any days spent requesting documents or updating information are counted toward the fine accumulation.
If a visa renewal application is started but the correct documents are not uploaded within 30 days, or the incorrect documents are uploaded more than three times, the application is cancelled and a new one must be started.
Once the permit has been cancelled or expired, residents have a six-month grace period to leave the country or change their status. Staying in the UAE after this becomes a crime, and you may be arrested.
Without a visa renewal, an offender with an expired visit visa can be arrested after 30 days. Inspection campaigns are conducted on a regular basis to catch offenders.
The new UAE visa rules, which went into effect last month, allow visitors to stay for up to 60 days.
The decision to extend the validity of all entry visas to 60 days from the date of issue, which is double the previous allowance, is one of a series of visa changes approved by the Cabinet in April.
There was previously no specific visa for tourists, and those wishing to visit the UAE had to apply for 30-day, 60-day, or 90-day visit visas.
The one, two, and three-month entry permits are still available on a new visa, but only for people who want to visit friends or relatives in the country, which requires documentary proof of the relationship and the reason for the visit.
All entry visas are valid for one or more entries and can be renewed for another 60 days.
