Cracking Down on Visa Overstays
The newly devised fee structure is meticulously designed to address the issue of overstays attributed to expired residence or visit visas across the UAE.
With an intent to streamline the immigration process and promote adherence to visa regulations, these regulations come as a significant development.
AED50 Fixed Fine for Overstay Days
According to the revised guidelines, a standardized fine of AED50 will be levied for each day beyond the stipulated expiration date of a visa.
This fine encompasses any applicable grace period, which is granted for individuals seeking visa renewal. This measure is aimed at encouraging timely adherence to visa renewal procedures.
“The ICP has standardised the overstaying fines in the UAE. According to the new rules, visit, tourist and residence visa overstaying fees have standardised at AED 50 per day. Those overstaying on a residency visa will have to pay AED 50 each day (AED 50 per day instead of AED 25).”
Easy Access to Information
The Digital Government has actively encouraged individuals to leverage the information available on the Authority’s official website, as well as the website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA).
These online platforms serve as comprehensive resources, providing detailed insights into various visa-related service charges. This encompasses expenses associated with visa issuance, extensions, and cancellations.
Seamless Visa Application Process
In a bid to facilitate a hassle-free visa application process, entry and visa permit applications can be conveniently submitted through multiple avenues.
These include the official authority website, the smart application offered by the authority, the Dubai Now application, and authorized typing centers. Once an application is submitted and subsequently approved through any of these channels, successful applicants are furnished with an official approval letter, in conjunction with the original entry permit.
This concerted effort by the UAE Digital Government, in partnership with UAEICP, is anticipated to play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of the nation’s visa system while promoting greater compliance among residents and visitors alike.
For more detailed insights and to initiate the visa application process, interested individuals are encouraged to explore the aforementioned online platforms.
