US Visa Interview Wait Times Slashed by Over 50%

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti announced on Wednesday that the wait time for first-time tourist visa interviews in India has been reduced by more than 50%. He also said that the goal for 2023 is to process at least one million visas. Garcetti made the announcement while speaking at IIT Delhi. He said that the US Mission in India is currently processing visas faster than ever before.

The Indian government has postponed the implementation of the increased TCS rates for remittances under the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) and for the purchase of overseas tour packages. The new rates were originally scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2023, but the government has decided to give more time for banks and card networks to put in place the necessary IT infrastructure.

The Committee of Creditors (CoC), which includes the Central Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Deutsche Bank, and IDBI Bank, has approved the request for additional funding. The funding has been approved to normalize Go First's business plan and operations.
