Beginning July 1, Indian graduates studying in Australian tertiary institutions will have access to exciting new work opportunities. The Australian government has introduced changes that eliminate the need for visa sponsorship for Indian graduates for up to eight years.
This move aims to enhance career prospects and encourage Indian students to contribute to the Australian workforce.
Increased Work-Hour Cap and Visa Extension
International students in Australia will also benefit from an increased work-hour cap. The allowable work hours will be raised from 40 hours to 48 hours per fortnight, allowing students to work additional hours and support themselves financially while pursuing their studies.
Furthermore, a two-year work visa extension will be granted to international students, offering them an extended period to gain valuable work experience in Australia.
Migration and Mobility Partnership
India and Australia recently signed a migration and mobility partnership pact, creating new opportunities for students, academic researchers, and business professionals.
Under this partnership, the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES) will provide 3,000 annual spots exclusively for young professionals from India.
These individuals will have the opportunity to spend two years in Australia without the need for visa sponsorship.
Eligibility and Occupations
To be eligible for the MATES visa program, candidates must be below the age of 31 and have obtained their education from a recognized and verified university. Additionally, candidates should be in the early stages of their careers.
The MATES Visa is specifically designed for graduates from recognized Indian universities with degrees in specialized fields of study.
The eligible fields of occupation include engineering, mining, financial technology, artificial intelligence, information and communication technology, agricultural technology, and renewable energy.
Visa Process and Fees
The fees and visa processing time for the MATES visa program are yet to be announced by the Australian government. Candidates interested in this opportunity should stay updated with the latest information provided by the relevant authorities.
Australia’s Immigration System Overhaul
