Mumbai Local Trains: Railways To Run 2985 Services From January 29

Mumbai’s local trains, the lifeline of India’s financial capital will start operations at their full capacity and also gets additional 204 suburban services effective from 29th January 2021.

Although, the local train service is still available for those who are permitted by the Ministry of Railways and Govt of Maharashtra to travel by the local trains.

Central Railway has decided to increase the suburban services from the existing 1,580 to 1,685 services and Western Railway has decided to increase the existing 1,201 suburban services to 1,300 services with effect from January 29, the CPRO of both zones informed the press.

An announcement from the Ministry of Railways said “Additional 204 suburban services to the existing 2781 services making it 2985 services on Mumbai Suburban network w.e.f 29.1.2021. Passengers, as permitted by the Ministry of Railways and Govt of Maharashtra, are ONLY allowed to travel by the suburban trains”

Moreover, the Central Railways has advised all passengers to adhere to all norms, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to COVID-19 during boarding, travel, and at the destination.

The Mumbai local train services were suspended on March 23 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and From June 14, some specific number of Suburban trains were allowed to resume their operations in the Mumbai metropolitan region, but this too was in a minimal way.
