Fact Check: Indian Railways To Resume Normal Train Services From 01 February?

Nowadays a lot of misinformation related to traveling in the times of covid-19 is circulating on WhatsApp and social media.

One such morphed image that is doing rounds is the resumption of normal train service by the Indian Railways from February 1, 2021.

As the number of coronavirus drops in the country, it is expected that the Indian Railways will resume the train services like pre-covid times.

However, the Indian Railways has officially denied the resumption of normal train services from 01 February and termed the image doing rounds in social media as ‘fake news’.

Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) fact check arm has also denied the resumption of train services from 01 February and busted the fake news which was doing rounds in social media.

Earlier a viral post on social media platforms was doing rounds stating that Indian Railways will stop operations of all the trains from 01 December.

It was also later termed as a chunk of fake news by the government.

Moreover, some media houses are reported that Railways has been charging extra fares from passengers and the Indian Railways has said that this is misleading and not based on all the facts.

The Indian Railways had stopped the normal operations in March 2020 to prevent the spread of covid-19 within the country but later gradual resumption of train services started for people to travel from one part of the country to another.
