In a significant development, Kuwait is preparing to reinstate the acceptance of family visit visa applications, signalling the country’s commitment to reuniting families after a hiatus that lasted several months.
Recent reports indicate that Kuwait has completed the necessary procedures and requirements related to visa issuance, paving the way for families to apply for visit visas and be reunited with their loved ones in the country.
Positive Shift in Visa Policies
This move represents a positive shift in Kuwait’s visa policies, focusing on the importance of various aspects of social life and the strengthening of family ties.
The eligibility criteria for applicants seeking family visit visas will include considerations such as salary and job status, with priority given to first-degree relatives.
Introduction of a New Visa Category
Furthermore, Minister Talal Al-Khaled has issued a decision to introduce a new clause to Article 4 of Ministerial Resolution No. 957/2019. This amendment establishes a new type of entry visa specifically for individuals engaged in sports, cultural, or social activities in Kuwait.
According to reports from Al Rai, recognized sports clubs, accredited cultural and social institutions, bodies, or associations will be able to apply for this visa on behalf of their members, adhering to the guidelines set by the General Directorate of Residence Affairs.
The newly introduced visa allows temporary residence in Kuwait for a duration of three months, with the possibility of renewal for up to one year from the date of entry, as stipulated in Article 11 of Amiri Decree No. 17 of 1959.
This provision has been met with widespread praise, as it is expected to facilitate a wide range of related activities and stimulate economic and commercial movement within the country.
Streamlining the Visa Application Process
To further enhance the visa application process, the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait is actively working on implementing a specialized mechanism. As part of this effort, electronic appointments will be introduced to streamline the review process at the residence affairs departments, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
These recent developments highlight Kuwait’s commitment to facilitating family reunions and supporting various activities in sports, culture, and social spheres.
By introducing new visa categories and streamlining the application process, Kuwait aims to foster stronger family ties and promote economic and commercial growth within the country.
