Japan Issued Revised SOPs For India Bound Passengers

The embassy of India in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday (28th Nov. 2020) issued a revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for India-bound passengers under the India-Japan air bubble arrangements.

As per the new SOPs registration of passengers with the Embassy of India, Tokyo is no longer required, and bookings should be done directly with the concerned airlines.

Purchase of Tickets

  1. India & Japan are now part of the ‘Air-Bubble’ system. Registration of passengers with the
    Embassy of India, Tokyo is no longer required, and bookings should be done directly with the
    concerned airlines.
  2. Air India has announced its Air Bubble schedule Delhi-Tokyo-Delhi w.e.f. November 2, 2020
    to March 28, 2021, at the following link:

  3. “No Objection” from the Embassy to travel by the ‘Air Bubble’ flights to India is not required.

Air Suvidha Registration

  1. The submission of a registration request on the Air Suvidha portal is mandatory for all passengers and should be done at least 72 hours before the scheduled date of travel. For convenience, passengers may complete Air Suvidha registration and carry a printout of the registration before check-in.   2. Filling and submission of “Consent Letter” and “Undertaking-cum-Indemnity Bond” is no longer required by passengers travelling to India.

Air Suvidha (Exemption from Quarantine)

  1. As per GOI rules, seven days of institutional quarantine is mandatory at the first port of landing. Exemptions are permitted but are subject to meeting conditions prescribed in the relevant section of the Air Suvidha portal.   2. In case of those seeking exemption on the basis of an RT-PCR test, such a test should have
    been conducted within 72 hours prior to undertaking the journey, and results should be uploaded on the Air Suvidha portal for consideration. Please also carry along with you the original test report to be produced before the health officials upon arrival at the first port of entry. All passengers seeking exemption based on negative RT-PCR tests shall undertake 14-day self-monitoring of their health.
  3. If an individual fails to submit the registration request and is not carrying the RT-PCR negative test report, necessary provisions as detailed in the SOP of MH&FW dated 5 November 2020 will be applicable. The link for seeking exemption from mandatory institutional quarantine for

Quarantine

  1. For quarantine and all other health/COVID-19 related matters, guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shall continue to be strictly adhered to.
