GCC Considering Single Visa System for Residents

In a significant development, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), consisting of six member states, is contemplating the implementation of a unified visa system. This initiative aims to enable residents of GCC nations to travel seamlessly within the member states.

Speaking at the Future Hospitality Summit in Abu Dhabi, Minister Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri addressed the concept of a unified visa for the GCC, highlighting its potential to streamline travel for residents within the GCC.

GCC’s Schengen-Style Visa

Earlier this year, Bahrain’s tourism minister, Fatima Al Sairafi, disclosed plans to establish such a visa system for tourists, making it easier for them to explore multiple GCC countries without the constraints of individual visas.

During the Arabian Travel Market, Minister Fatima Al Sairafi mentioned that ministerial-level discussions were actively underway to bring the unified visa system to fruition. She expressed optimism that this system would be launched in the very near future.

Additionally, an official from the UAE Ministry of Economy, speaking at the same panel, emphasized how the unified visa system would facilitate tourism by allowing travellers to visit multiple countries within the GCC under a single, hassle-free package.
