China’s National Immigration Administration (NIA) has introduced five new measures effective January 11, aimed at simplifying visa application processes for foreign visitors. This option is particularly beneficial for those facing time constraints. Applicants are required to present an invitation letter along with other necessary documents at designated port visa authorities.

2. Simplified 24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Under this measure, foreign nationals eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit policy at major hub airports including Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and others, are now exempt from border inspection procedures.

This exemption facilitates smoother transit experiences for passengers with international interline tickets transiting through these airports to third countries or regions within 24 hours.

3. Visa Extension and Renewal

Foreign nationals already present in China for short-term activities such as business, tourism, or family visits can now apply for visa extension, renewal, or re-issuance directly at the nearest public security organs.

This measure aims to ease administrative processes for individuals with legitimate reasons for extending their stays in the country.

4. Multiple-Entry Visa Option

For foreigners in China requiring multiple-entry visas for valid reasons, the new measure allows them to apply for such visas through the exit-entry administrations of public security organs.

This provision offers greater flexibility for individuals needing to travel frequently in and out of the country.

5. Simplified Visa Application Requirements

China has streamlined visa application requirements for foreign nationals, minimizing the types of materials needed for certain visa categories.

Foreigners whose information such as accommodation records and business licenses can be verified through shared information systems are no longer required to provide physical certificates during the visa application process.

Additionally, for short-term family visits or reunions, a declaration of kinship may now be accepted instead of formal kinship certificates.
