According to the annual report on Canada immigration for 2022, Canada accepted 437,120 new permanent residents in 2022, surpassing the year’s target of 431,645 by nearly 5,000.
As per the IRCC Data, India continues to be the largest contributor of new immigrants to Canada, followed by China and Afghanistan.

Top Immigration Destinations in Canada in 2022
In 2022, Ontario was the most popular destination for new permanent residents in Canada, with Quebec coming in second. Approximately 42.2% of all newcomers settled in Ontario, while 15.7% settled in Quebec and 14% settled in British Columbia.
Quebec received 68,685 immigrants, while Alberta received 49,460 in the same year.
