Bilateral Interlining for a Smoother Journey
The foundation of this partnership lies in bilateral interlining, a cooperative agreement that empowers both airlines to offer tickets for travel on each other’s networks. This approach ensures a seamless transition between flights and eliminates the hassle of booking separate tickets for connecting journeys.
Introducing Through Fares
Air India and Alaska Airlines have also signed a Special Prorate Agreement, which grants Air India the privilege to offer ‘through fares’ for routes covering Alaska Airlines’ vast network. Through fares simplify the booking process, as passengers can secure a single fare for their entire journey from the point of departure to a destination that may not be on the current route.
Connecting the World
Currently, Air India operates 47 non-stop flights per week connecting Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai to five major U.S. cities: New York, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.
With the new partnership in place, passengers will gain easier access to an expanded range of destinations across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Key Connections
To provide a glimpse of the enhanced connectivity, here are some of the vital connections offered by the Air India-Alaska Airlines partnership:
- From JFK: Passengers can seamlessly travel to Portland, Seattle, and San Diego.
