Vistara, the Indian full-service airline, has announced that it will be shifting its operations to Bengaluru Airport’s Terminal 2 with effect from 26th March.
The airline made the announcement via social media, saying “Dear Bengaluru, we are moving to Terminal 2! Our flights will now operate from T2 effective 26-March-2023.”
The relocation to Terminal 2 is expected to make Vistara passengers’ travel more comfortable and convenient. The new terminal, which was inaugurated in November 2022 by Indian PM Narendra Modi, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities.
The Terminal 2 of Bengaluru Airport has larger check-in areas, better security and baggage handling systems, and a variety of retail and dining options.
Notably, Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) started domestic flight operations on Sunday, January 15, at its new Terminal 2. Star Air was the first airline to use the new Terminal.
Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2
Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and constructed by Larsen & Toubro, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11th November 2022.
The first phase of the terminal cost around ₹ 5,000 crores and covers an area of 255,000 sq.m. With provisions for tarmac gates and jet bridge gates, the terminal will handle both domestic and international operations from the first half of 2023.
It boasts 95 check-in counters, 17 security check lanes, 9 baggage claim belts, and 34 conventional and 6 electronic immigration gates. The terminal has received a LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its emphasis on technology and sustainability.
