Vietjet to Launch Direct Flights Between Ho Chi Minh City and Trichy

In a bid to bolster the burgeoning relationship between Vietnam and India, private air carrier Vietjet has announced its plans to commence direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Tiruchirappalli starting November 2.

This strategic move comes in response to the significant surge in Indian tourists exploring Vietnam, solidifying India’s position among the top 10 inbound markets for the East Asian nation, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Surging Indian Tourism in Vietnam

Between January and June 2023, Vietnam witnessed a staggering 200 per cent increase in Indian travellers, underlining the growing interest in this vibrant and culturally rich country. This surge in Indian tourists prompted Vietjet’s decision to enhance flight connectivity between the two nations.

A Milestone for Tiruchirappalli Airport

The impending launch of direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Tiruchirappalli marks a significant milestone for Tiruchirappalli Airport’s development and the burgeoning tourism industry in both Vietnam and India.

Vietjet believes that this new service will further catalyze tourism, economic cooperation, trade, and bilateral relations between the two nations.

In an official statement, the airline remarked, “This new route showcases Vietjet’s capability to connect the southern region of India with Vietnamese cities, thereby opening up more opportunities for travel and trade exchanges between the people of these two countries, all while offering reasonable costs and excellent services.”

Convenient Flight Schedule

Vietjet’s new route will provide travellers with convenient options to explore various parts of Vietnam, including popular coastal destinations such as Da Nang and Nha Trang.

Flights from Tiruchirappalli to Ho Chi Minh City are scheduled to operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while the return flights will be available on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

This initiative is poised to not only boost tourism but also foster economic and trade ties, enriching the relationship between Vietnam and India. With the inaugural flight just around the corner, the prospects for strengthened bilateral connections and increased travel opportunities are promising.
