Uttarakhand Govt Suspend Char Dham Yatra

Amid the fear of rising cases of coronavirus in the state, the Uttarakhand Govt. on Thursday announced the suspension of ‘Char Dham Yatra’ this year.

It is worth noting that the ‘Char Dham Yatra’ had been scheduled to start on 14th May 2021, the same will now take place with only priests of the four temples, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said.

Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat also stated that the decision was taken because of the rising cases of increasing infections in the state.

The priests of the temple will perform all the rituals and puja of the Yatra this year.

The Char Dham Yatra goes through four pilgrimage sites of Kedarnath, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Gangotri.

The Char Dham Yatra shrines will open as per announced dates – Badrinath is slated to open on May 18 at 4.15 am, and the Kedarnath temple will open on May 17.
