UAE Launches New Free Work Permit for Private Teachers

In a move to crack down on illegal private tuition and empower qualified educators, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new Private Teacher Work Permit.
The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) on Tuesday, December 19, aims to create a more regulated and professional private tutoring landscape in the country.
Purpose and Beneficiaries
The primary objective of the ‘Private Teacher Work Permit’ is to curb the prevalence of illegal private tuition. The permit caters to a diverse range of individuals, including:
- Registered teachers
- Employees
- Unemployed individuals
- School students aged 15-18
- University students
Mohammad Al Mualla, the undersecretary for Academic Affairs in the Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of this permit in addressing unregulated practices, emphasizing its role in safeguarding the rights of private teachers and ensuring students receive tailored quality education.
