UAE Announces Overstay Fines and Outpass Requirement for Visitors to Leave Country

Travellers to the UAE should be aware of the consequences of overstaying their visit visas in the country. If you have overstayed your visa, you will be required to pay fines for the additional days past the expiration date of your visa and obtain an out pass or leave permit from the airport or immigration office at land borders in order to leave the country.

According to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, individuals who have overstayed their visit in the country must obtain an Outpass or leave permit at the airport or immigration offices at land borders.

According to travel industry experts, a new process has begun that requires visitors who have overstayed their visas in the country to pay a fee of Dh200 to Dh300 and obtain a permit in order to leave the UAE.

According to the Khaleej Times, “an outpass or leave permit is now required for those visitors who have remained in the country past their visa expiration or after the grace period granted by the emirates.”

UAE: Obtaining Outpass or Leave Permit

Some visitors were taken aback by the recent policy of obtaining an outpass or leave permit for overstaying in the UAE. According to travel industry experts, the country gives visitors a 10-day grace period after their visas expire.
