After a six-month hiatus, flight services are set to resume operations at Sikkim’s only airport located in Pakyong. This announcement brings relief to travellers eager to explore the breathtaking landscapes of this Himalayan state. Senior officials have confirmed that flight services will recommence on March 31, marking the end of the suspension.

Resumption Details

SpiceJet, the low-cost carrier, will be the frontrunner in this revival, offering two daily flights for travellers’ convenience:

Kolkata to Pakyong: Enjoy a smooth daily connection from Kolkata, departing at 8:05 AM and arriving in Pakyong by 9:35 AM. The return flight takes off from Pakyong at 10:30 AM and lands in Kolkata at 12:10 PM.

New Delhi to Pakyong: SpiceJet will operate flights on this route five days a week, allowing easy access from the national capital. The flight departs New Delhi at 9:45 AM and reaches Pakyong by 12:40 PM. The return journey starts at 1:10 PM, bringing you back to New Delhi by 4:10 PM.

Reason for Suspension and Resumption

The suspension of services at Sikkim’s Pakyong Airport was enforced six months ago due to operational challenges. Grover explained that ongoing maintenance work at the airport had caused delays in resuming flight operations.

However, with the completion of the maintenance tasks, the airport is now ready to welcome passengers once again.
