Saudi Arabia Started Issuing New Stop-Over Transit Visa Effective January 30

A piece of good news for those who are travelling to Saudi Arabia or, planning to travel to some other country Via the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, starting from Monday, January 30, 2023, the Kingdom has launched the service of issuing electronic Stop-over Transit Visas for all purposes.

This new Stop-over Transit Visa service is aimed at attracting more visitors to the country and promoting tourism in the Kingdom.

Saudi Stop-Over Transit Visa

The visa allows holders to stay in the Kingdom for a duration of four days, and it is valid for three months.

  • The visa is valid for a duration of three months and allows a stay of four days in the Kingdom.
  • The visa is free of cost and will be issued instantly along with the flight ticket.

Purposes of the Transit Visa

The Transit visa permits transit passengers who wish to enter Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, as well as explore other parts of the country and attend various tourism events.

Application Process

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with relevant authorities and Saudi national airlines to launch this service. Applications for transit visas can be submitted through the electronic platforms of Saudi Arabian Airlines and Flynas.

The application will then be automatically sent to the Unified National Visa Platform at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for processing and issuance of the digital visa. The visa will be sent to the recipient via email immediately after processing.

Saudia Airlines has announced a new program called “Your Ticket is a Visa,” which will allow travellers to travel within the regions of Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah upon arrival. The program will provide an easier and more convenient way for travellers to experience all that the country has to offer.

Contribution to Vision 2030

The digital Transit Visa service is expected to contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by enhancing its position and leveraging its strategic location that connects various continents, making it an attractive destination for transit passengers and tourists alike.
