Pune Airport To Remain Shut For Two Weeks Starting Today (16 Oct)

Due to the runway resurfacing work the Pune Airport will remain closed for two weeks (14 Days) starting from 16th Oct to 29th Oct.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will be undertaking runway resurfacing work.

There will be no flight operations at the Pune Airport from 16th Oct 2021 till 29th Oct 2021. Flight operations will be resume at 08:00 am on 30th Oct 2021 after the resurfacing work will complete.

“This is to remind passengers due to runway resurfacing works, there will be no flight operations at Pune Airport from 16th Oct 2021 till 29th Oct 2021. Flight operations will resume at 08:00 am on 30th Oct 2021. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.” Pune Airport Twitted.

The IAF, which manages the runway operations in a statement said;

“A 14-day complete closure was planned from April 26 till May 9, 2021, to undertake the resurfacing of the central bitumen portion of the runway. However, due to emergent requirement of transport of COVID-19 vaccines, The Ministry of Defense had directed to defer the complete closure of the runway.”

The exact dates of closure from October 16 to October 29 2021 could be promulgated only after the requisite approvals were obtained from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and The Ministry of Defense.

“As per the present plan, the flight operations would resume from October 30, 2021, before Diwali festival,” the IAF stated. 

The IAF also said that it will ensure that the transportation of the Covishield vaccine is not be disrupted during a planned 14-day closure of the Pune International Airport’s runway.
