Oman Air, a prominent carrier in the region, is set to launch direct flights to Muscat from Manohar International Airport, Mopa, marking a significant milestone for the burgeoning greenfield airport.

The airline’s new service, commencing this Sunday, will make it the third carrier offering international connections from the state-of-the-art Mopa airport, and is slated to operate four flights per week initially.

Moreover, in a strategic move, Oman Air will cease its operations at Goa International Airport, Dabolim (GOI), in November.

A Forward-Looking Decision

Notably, Oman Air had announced the decision to discontinue its operations at Goa International Airport even before Mopa Airport secured its aerodrome license. This underscores the airline’s commitment to the new international gateway at Manohar International Airport.

R V Sheshan, the CEO of Mopa Airport, expressed his enthusiasm for this new development, saying, “This new connection exemplifies Manohar International Airport’s dedication to enhancing connectivity and frequency on international routes as we expand our reach with new destinations.”

Flight Schedule and Future Plans

Oman Air’s direct flights will operate on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with a plan to increase the frequency to six flights per week starting in December. The inaugural flight on Sunday will land at Mopa from Muscat International Airport at 07:10 AM and depart from Mopa at 10:10 AM for Muscat.

E-Visa Facility for International Travel

An added advantage of using Manohar International Airport is its provision for e-visas, which simplifies the international travel process for passengers. The e-visa is a convenient and easy way to obtain a visa for India, and its availability at MIA will make it easier for tourists to visit Goa.

Enhancing Connectivity at Mopa Airport

Presently, Air India and IndiGo are the only other airlines offering international flights from Mopa Airport. Air India operates direct flights to Gatwick, while IndiGo runs three flights a week to Abu Dhabi.

Conclusion

In summary, Oman Air’s inauguration of direct flights between Mopa and Muscat marks a significant milestone for both the airline and Manohar International Airport, enhancing connectivity, boosting tourism, and promoting cultural exchange between Goa and Oman

This development contributes to the ongoing transformation of Mopa Airport into a key international hub for travellers in the region.
