In a recent press release, the airline announced its plans to introduce three new services connecting Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to key Indian cities, expanding its point-to-point connectivity and offering travelers more options than ever before.

New Routes to India

Effective from November 8, 9, and December 1, 2023, Malaysia Airlines will commence operations on three new routes connecting Kuala Lumpur to India:

  • Amritsar (ATQ) on November 8, 2023.
  • Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) on November 9, 2023.
  • Ahmedabad (AMD) on December 1, 2023.

This strategic expansion will bring Malaysia Airlines’ total point-to-point connectivity from Kuala Lumpur to India to an impressive nine key hubs, enhancing travel options and flexibility for passengers traveling between the two countries. The airline already operates direct flights to New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi.

The new routes to India will be operated by the Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, boasting a total of 160 seats. The cabin configuration will include 16 seats in Business Class and 144 seats in Economy Class, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable journey for all passengers.

Special Introductory Fares

To celebrate the launch of these new routes, Malaysia Airlines is offering special introductory fares for travelers. All-in return tickets start from as low as RM999 for Economy Class and RM2,999 for Business Class.

These promotional fares are available for purchase from today until September 9, 2023, and are valid for travel between November 8, 2023, and March 31, 2024. Additionally, customers who book during this promotional period will enjoy up to 50% Bonus Enrich Points.

Malaysia Airlines’ Commitment to Indian Market

Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), expressed his excitement about the expansion into the Indian market. He stated, “India remains a key market for Malaysia Airlines, hence we are delighted to introduce three new routes into our Indian network, which will provide added convenience for travelers, strengthen our presence in this core market, and extend our Malaysian Hospitality service even further.”

He also highlighted the airline’s growth and confidence in the Indian market, mentioning that the average load factor on this route stood at 81% Year-to-Date (YTD) as of July 2023. Captain Izham Ismail emphasized their commitment to restoring pre-COVID-19 capacity in the Indian market by the end of this year.

Furthermore, Malaysia Airlines aims to increase flight frequencies to other destinations to support seamless travel experiences both in Malaysia and beyond.

With these new routes and special fares, Malaysia Airlines is set to enhance connectivity and make travel between Malaysia and India more accessible and enjoyable for passengers.
