IRCTC Launches Co-Branded Contactless Credit Card on RuPay Platform

IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) launched a co-branding credit card on the RuPay platform to make contactless interaction as much as possible.

The credit card is an IRCTC and SBI co-branded credit card.

The new credit card was announced today by Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Railways, Commerce, and Industry.

With the aim of offering customers a secure transaction environment, the new RuPay credit card is equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which enables users to speed up their transactions at the POS machines by simply clicking on the card tap and not without wiping it.

The new co-branding credit card was developed to reward frequent rail travelers.

It offers passengers maximum savings for their travel, exclusive benefits for retail, catering, and entertainment, and exemption from transaction fees.

Here are some benefits of the card:

  • Cardholders get back up to 10% on bookings of 1st AC, 2nd AC, 3rd AC, Executive Chair Car and AC Chair Car made on the IRCTC website.
  • The card also offers an online transaction fee exemption (1% of the transaction amount), 1% fuel fee exemption, and 4 premium lounge-free access to train stations per year (one per quarter).
  • When activating the card, users of the card receive 350 bonus reward points with a minimum amount.
  • Users can redeem the reward points they have earned for purchasing train tickets on the IRCTC ticketing website.
  • In addition to savings on rail traffic, the IRCTC SBI card offers several advantages for online shopping portals. Customers can get discounts when shopping on e-commerce websites.

“We are strongly committed in making Railways ‘Aatmanirbhar’ in all the fields with ‘Make In India’ initiatives as envisaged by Prime Minister Modi. The IRCTC SBI co-branded card working on RuPay platform is one of the many ‘Make In India’ activities undertaken by the Railways,” the minister said.
