In its bid to strengthen the regional connectivity, leading low-cost carrier IndiGo on Tuesday announced Rajkot as its next destination on the 6E network.
As per the airline, it will operate direct flights from Rajkot to 4 metro cities namely, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad as part of its summer 2021 schedule, w.e.f March 28, 2021.
These new connections will strengthen connectivity between Rajkot and the key metro cities in the country while fulfilling the demand for enhanced connectivity.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, IndiGo said, “We are pleased to announce Rajkot as our new domestic destination to strengthen regional connectivity. Rajkot, known for its casting and forging industries, is one of the prime industrial centers in Gujarat.”
“Increased connectivity to Saurashtra’s financial capital will boost trade, commerce, and tourism in the region. IndiGo is committed to providing an affordable, on-time, safe, and hassle-free travel experience onboard our lean clean flying machine.”
“We have been witnessing steady demand from regional sectors owing to strong domestic travel demand getting back eventually.”
“We have an increased focus on tier II markets to strengthen our regional presence. Given the fact that international travel may take some time to rebound, airlines will bet big on smaller towns for a large volume of their traffic.”
At present, IndiGo has a fleet of 284 aircraft and is operating more than 1,100 flights every day connecting 60 domestic and 6 international destinations.
