India’s ‘Statue of Unity’ marks place in 8 wonders of SCO

World’s Tallest ‘Statue of Unity’ the 182-meter tall statue of the Iron man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is now Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s “8 wonders of SCO” list.

In the month of November, the Statue of Unity gets more visitors than the very famous Statue of Liberty.

The Statue of Liberty attracts around 10,000 visitors on average daily while the 182-m tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel receives 15,063 average visitors during the month of November 2019.

The External Affairs minister Dr. S Jaishankar met the secretary-general of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Mr. Vladimir Norov in New Delhi on Monday. Dr. Jaishankar appreciated the SCO’s efforts to promote tourism among member states.

He said the eighth wonder of SCO, which includes the Statue of Unity will surely serve as an inspiration.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance and refers to a grouping of eight nations, which includes India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

The Statue of Unity has featured among the 8 wonders of SCO for top structures located in the above-mentioned countries.

The world’s tallest statue of Unity is located on Sadhu Bet islet on the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadiya and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018.
