Indian Railways has announced big changes in the schedule for some of its special trains from the Eastern Zone as of Saturday, 11 July.
The Eastern Railway said that some trains are scheduled to run from Howrah on Friday and New Delhi by Saturday. The trains then run according to the changed schedule.
The Ministry of Railways announced in June that all regular postal, express, and passenger and S-Bahn services would be discontinued by August 12, as coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases increased rapidly in the country.
However, all special trains – 15 pairs on the Rajdhani routes since May 12 and 100 pairs since June 1 – will continue, an official order says.
The Eastern Railway announced a reduction in train numbers 02303/02304 Howrah-New Delhi-Howrah Special (via Patna) and 02381/02382 Howrah-New Delhi-Howrah Special (via Dhanbad).
Here is the new schedule:
- Train No. 02303-Howrah Special (via Patna) from Howrah will only run on Saturday with effect from July 11, 2020.
- Train No. 02304-New Delhi-Howrah Special (via Patna) from New Delhi will only run on Sundays from July 12, 2020.
- As of July 16, 2020, train No. 02381-Howrah-New Delhi Special (via Dhanbad) from Howrah will only run on Thursdays
- Train No. 02382-New Delhi-Howrah Special (via Dhanbad) from New Delhi will only run on Fridays from July 17, 2020.
