E-visa Mandatory For Afghan Nationals Traveling To India

Amid the prevailing security situation in Afghanistan, all Afghan nationals henceforth must travel to India only on e-visa, announced the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

The Home Ministry said that after streamlining the visa process with the introduction of e-Emergency X-Misc visa, it had been decided that from now on all Afghan nationals must travel to India only on e-visa.

“Keeping in view some reports that certain passports of Afghan nationals have been misplaced, previously issued visas to all Afghan nationals, who are presently not in India, stand invalidated with immediate effect,” added MHA in an official statement.

Afghan nationals who wish to travel to India may apply for e-visa on indianvisaonline.gov.in

On August 17, India announced that it would issue an emergency e-visa to Afghan nationals who want to come to the country in view of the prevailing crisis in Afghanistan.

“MHA reviews visa provisions in view of the current situation in Afghanistan. A new category of electronic visa called “e-Emergency X-Misc Visa” introduced to fast-track visa applications for entry into India,” tweeted Home Ministry spokesperson.
