Till now, if anyone wants to travel to McLeodganj from Dharamshala, the only way was to take a 45-minute car trip, but this journey is now only 5 minutes long thanks to the completion of the Dharamshala Skyway, an aerial ropeway project.
The Dharamshala Skyway project is developed in a private-public partnership by TRIL Urban Transport Private Ltd in response to long-standing tourist demand.
Tata Group in a tweeted said;

Dharamshala Skyway To Boost Tourism
Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala Skyway is expected to boost tourism in the area. Neha Pandit the Director, of Dharamshala Skyway, said, “Tourist season in Dharamshala will begin from mid of April and we are hopeful to see a big jump in tourists due to this project.”

The project has been built at an estimated cost of about Rs 207 crores.
The ropeway is said to be capable of carrying 1,000 passengers per hour in each direction, with one-way tickets costing Rs 300 and two-way tickets costing Rs 500 per person.
Now that the ropeway is functional, it will shorten the journey by 9 kilometres and save around 40% of the time.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur dedicated the Dharamsala Ropeway on January 19, 2022. This ropeway’s top station is directly in front of the Dalai Lama Temple.
The Mono Cable Detachable Gondolas System was used to build the Skyway, which features two stations and ten towers.
How Many Persons Can The Ropeway Carry?
There are 18 cabins with a capacity of 8 persons in each. The ropeway can carry 1000 persons per hour.
