Denmark Updates Positive Lists For Work Permits; Adds 110 New Job Titles

Denmark has recently unveiled updates to its positive list, aimed at facilitating the influx of skilled workers and graduates into the country’s workforce.

The positive list, which undergoes biannual revisions, now comprises 72 job titles tailored for individuals with higher education qualifications and 38 job titles targeting skilled workers.

Comprehensive Positive Lists

The updated positive lists reflect Denmark’s evolving labour demands, encompassing professions currently experiencing shortages of qualified personnel.

The Higher Education Positive List welcomes 72 new professions seeking qualified graduates, spanning diverse fields like:

• Military Officers: Denmark seeks expertise in national security.
• Logistics & Product Management: Optimize supply chains and product development.
• Science & Engineering: Biologists, Mechanical Engineers, and Environmental Engineers are needed.
• Data & Marketing: Business Intelligence Managers, Specialist Consultants, and Marketing Professionals will find fertile ground.
• Technology & Communication: IT Programmers, Web Developers, System Administrators, and Legal Counsel are highly sought after.

Meanwhile, the Skilled Work Positive List expands by 38 professions, including:

• Construction & Craftsmanship: Plumbers, Technical Designers, Bricklayers, Welders, Bodywork Metal Workers, and Shipbuilders are crucial to Denmark’s infrastructure.
• Technical Expertise: Service Technicians with iron and metal, and Industrial Mechanics add vital technical strength.
• Business Support: Sales Consultants and Human Resources Assistants contribute to efficient operations.

Removals and Renewals

The updated lists also see some changes. Blacksmiths, Automatic Technical Technicians, Electronics Technicians, and Telecommunications Technicians are no longer listed due to shifting workforce needs.

However, existing permit holders in these professions are assured of continuation, with renewal options based on general conditions.

Recently, Denmark has implemented stricter income and employment conditions for foreign workers seeking residence and work permits through employment. Effective January 1, 2024, these new regulations aim to ensure foreign workers earn wages and possess qualifications aligned with Danish standards.
