The congestion at major airports in India, particularly in Delhi and Mumbai, has been a concern for the Aviation Ministry. In response, they have taken several steps to address the issue and have also advised airlines to provide adequate staffing at check-in counters to improve the flow of passengers at airports.

MoCA directs all airlines to deploy sufficient personnel at check-in counters and to increase staff during peak hours, particularly in the morning.

In light of increasing passenger complaints about long waiting times at Delhi airport, the authorities have implemented various measures to alleviate the congestion.

“It has come to the notice that the airline check-in counters at certain airports are found unmanned or inadequately manned during early morning hours leading to congestion at the airports, thereby causing inconvenience to the passengers.”

“Scheduled airlines are therefore advised to deploy sufficient manpower at all check-in/baggage drop counters well in advance to ensure de-congestion and smooth flow of passengers at airports,” it further added.
