Following the cancellation of approximately 30,000 flights earlier this summer, British Airways has announced the cancellation of approximately 10,000 short-haul flights to and from London’s Heathrow Airport between October 2022 and March 2023.

British Airways said on Monday that Some long-haul flights will also be affected in order to reduce cancellations and delays during the winter months, according to the DPA news agency.

A few dozen round-trip flights per day, for a total of 629, will also be cancelled through the end of October, according to the company.

During the autumn vacations, the airline intends to maintain its connections to popular vacation destinations. The majority of the cancellations will be announced in advance, and passengers should be able to switch to other connections, according to the airline.

It is worth mentioning here that Heathrow, the UK’s busiest airport, has imposed a daily passenger limit of 100,000 due to a severe staff shortage. This was supposed to end in mid-September, but it was recently extended until the end of October.
