BLR Airport Unveils Revamped Terminal 1 for Enhanced Domestic Travel

In a significant milestone, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has announced the successful completion of a major terminal transformation project, underscoring its commitment to enhancing the passenger experience.

The project includes the repurposing of the former International area within Terminal 1 (T1) to create a dedicated and expansive space for Domestic operations.

Expanding Domestic Facilities

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving customer experience and ensuring a seamless passenger journey, BLR Airport has expanded its domestic facilities.

The introduction of 9 new contact stands, supplementing the existing 8 stands, is a noteworthy addition exclusively dedicated to domestic operations. This expansion aims to streamline domestic flights and reduce passenger congestion.

Innovative Security Measures

To further enhance security protocols, a new Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) area has been activated, equipped with Automated Tray Retrieval Systems (ATRS). This advanced technology facilitates the efficient flow of passengers into the Security Hold Area (SHA) and onward to the new boarding gates, ensuring a swift and secure screening process.

Improved Baggage Handling for Domestic Arrivals

BLR Airport has increased the number of baggage claim belts to 10 for domestic arrival flights, with the addition of 3 new belts.

This enhancement is designed to expedite the baggage retrieval process and provide a more efficient and pleasant experience for passengers arriving at the airport.

Elevated Passenger Amenities

In a bid to cater to the exclusive preferences of domestic travellers, BLR Airport has expanded the range of retail and dining options available.

Passengers can now indulge in the luxurious amenities of the esteemed 080 Lounge and Spa facilities located within the expanded domestic area, further elevating their travel experience.

Additionally, the airport has implemented measures to assist passengers with special needs. Buggies are now easily accessible within the SHA, providing comfort and convenience, especially for elderly passengers and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM). This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey for all passengers.
