Air India, the Indian full-service carrier owned by Tata Sons, announced on Thursday that it will launch 20 new weekly flights between major Indian cities and Doha, Qatar beginning October 30.
The decision to add more flights between India and Qatar comes in part from the airline’s expectation of increased demand during the Gulf country’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup in November-December.
It is worth mentioning here that the FIFA World Cup 2022 football championship will be held in Qatar between November 20 and December 18, this year. This event is expected to increase travel to Qatar, and airlines around the world are preparing to capitalize on the increased demand.
In view of this, Air India will operate these flights to Qatar’s capital Doha from Indian cities including Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. This will include;
Sharing more information on the additional flights’ Air India said, the Chennai-Doha service will begin on November 10, and the Hyderabad-Doha service will begin on November 11. The flights from Mumbai to Doha will begin in two stages on October 30.
The above-mentioned flights will be in addition to the existing daily flights to Doha from New Delhi.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, commented on the introduction of new Qatar flights:

Our flight schedule has been planned to make the entire travel experience convenient and seamless”.

The addition of Qatar flights comes on the heels of Air India adding 24 new flights to its domestic network last month.
There were two new frequencies on the Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Chennai routes, as well as one new frequency on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route.
