Aeroflot Resumes Direct Flights to Goa and Delhi from Moscow and Ekaterinburg

In a move to reconnect Russian travellers with their favourite beach destinations, Aeroflot, Russia’s flag carrier, has officially announced the resumption of its direct flights to Goa from Moscow and Ekaterinburg starting September 30.

The airline’s services will be primarily focused on Goa’s Dabolim International Airport, marking a significant step towards restoring travel links between Russia and India.

Additionally, Aeroflot will operate direct flights from Moscow to Delhi, enhancing the connectivity options for travellers.

Goa and Delhi Bound: Flight Details

As part of a bilateral agreement between India and Russia, Aeroflot will kick off its operations on September 30, offering three weekly flights from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport to Goa and Delhi. Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, catering to both leisure and business travellers.

The airline will deploy wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft for these routes, ensuring a comfortable and spacious journey for passengers.

Ekaterinburg Connection

Aeroflot extends its reach to travellers from Ekaterinburg, with direct flights scheduled to begin on October 3.

These flights, operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, will utilize Boeing 737-800 aircraft, adding more options for passengers looking to explore the vibrant culture and beautiful landscapes of India.

Cargo Opportunities

Karpov Dmitry, Head of Cargo Department at Aeroflot Russian Airlines, highlighted the importance of these flights for cargo transportation:

“These flights operated on A330 to Moscow will cater to cargo demand from the western side of India, where domestic Indian airlines will benefit as feeder carriers. Similarly, road transport will play a significant role in custom bonded cargo transportation from Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai.”

South India: A Popular Destination

Traditionally, south India has been a favoured destination for beach holidays among Russian travellers during the fall and winter seasons.

The airline anticipates that these flights will be in high demand, serving as a gateway to the sun-soaked beaches and rich cultural experiences that southern India has to offer.

Enhanced Cargo Capacity

Anish Khatri, GM Global at Delmos Aviation, stated, “Approximately 15 tons of cargo capacity from Delhi and an additional 10 tons from Goa will allow us to take DG (dangerous goods) and other special commodities.”

Delmos Aviation acts as the general sales and service agent for Aeroflot Russian Airlines in India, facilitating cargo and passenger operations.
