Abu Dhabi has extended the validity of its Golden Visa to 10 years for all categories, instead of the previous 5 years’ validity, according to Mark Dorzi, Director of Operations at the Abu Dhabi Residents Office.

Holders of this visa can sponsor spouses, children, and parents of any age, with the addition of new main categories and sub-categories based on recommendations from relevant offices like the Abu Dhabi Office for Residents, according to Dorzi.

According to the Abu Dhabi Residents Office, the golden visa is now valid for ten years and provides a wide range of residency options for professionals and researchers in science and knowledge fields such as doctors, specialists, scientists, and inventors.

The UAE government previously launched the Golden Residency Programme, with the aim of providing long-term residency permits that allow holders to reside in the country without the need for a guarantor.

Depending on the category, it is allegedly issued for a period of 5 or 10 years.

The holder of the Golden Visa is entitled to special benefits including; a multiple-entry visa for a period of 6 months to complete the golden visa procedures and a renewable residence visa for a period of 5 or 10 years.

The holder of a golden visa may also stay outside the UAE for more than six months, and he may obtain residence permits for family members such as his husband and children.

The maximum number of support service workers who can be brought to the UAE has been reduced, and family members can remain in the country for the duration of their residency validity, even if the sponsor who held the golden visa dies.
