Akasa Air Announces Flights to Mopa, Goa From Mumbai and Bengaluru Starting January 11

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, has announced that it will be adding Mopa, Goa as its 12th destination in the country. The airline will offer two daily flights from Goa to Bengaluru and two daily flights from Goa to Mumbai.

According to a statement issued by the airlines, flights to Bengaluru will start on January 11, and the frequency will increase to three daily flights from February 1, 2023.

Akasa Air believes that the increased connectivity between commercial cities and Goa, a popular tourist destination, will contribute to economic growth and increase the number of tourists visiting the region.

By the end of 2022, the airline expects to have over 500 weekly flights and a total of 18 routes across 12 cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, and Goa.

Akasa Air, which started operations in August 2022, has seen a rapid expansion of its business. In the first six months of operations, the airline took delivery of 10 aircraft and carried over 500,000 revenue passengers.

The company plans to continue expanding its fleet, with a total of 18 aircraft by the end of March 2023. In the coming four years, Akasa Air plans to add an additional 54 aircraft to its fleet, bringing the total number of aircraft to 72.

Commenting on the new destination announcement, Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder, and Chief Commercial Officer, of Akasa Air, said;

“We are pleased to announce our 12th destination, Goa with flights from New Goa Manohar International Airport (Mopa), one of the newest airports that were inaugurated by our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi-ji on December 11, 2022. We are really excited to connect Goa with two of our strong metro cities in the South and West, Bengaluru & Mumbai. We launch Goa with five daily departures connecting to Bengaluru and Mumbai.”

Mopa Airport

It is worth mentioning here that, the Mopa Airport in Goa was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The foundation stone for the airport was laid by the Prime Minister in November 2016.

The newly-inaugurated Mopa International Airport in Goa has been named after former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
