Go First, an Indian low-cost carrier plans to begin regular direct flights between Srinagar and Sharjah by the end of June 2022. The airline in April secured bilateral rights to operate five direct flights per week between Srinagar and Sharjah.

It must be noted that on October 23, last year, Go First launched a Srinagar-Sharjah flight, connecting Jammu and Kashmir with the United Arab Emirates for the first time in nearly 11 years. But the airline was forced to cancel the Srinagar-Sharjah flights on March 27, 2022, due to a lack of bilateral rights.

Now, the airline is all set to resume direct flights between Srinagar and Sharjah;

Moreover, in order to meet the increased demand from the upcoming Amarnath Yatra on June 30, Go First will add five more direct flights from Srinagar to Delhi and two additional flights from Leh to Delhi.

These additional flights will provide pilgrims with more travel options because of enhanced connectivity. Currently, Go First is operating a total of nine daily flights between Delhi and Srinagar and five daily flights between Delhi and Leh.

Kaushik Khona, Chief Executive Officer, GO FIRST, said;

“Go First is honored to resume services between Srinagar and Sharjah. The service will improve international connectivity and cater to international travel. The Amarnath Yatra is commencing soon and we will make every effort to ensure a hassle-free and delightful travel experience for the pilgrims. We further reaffirm our commitment to the region and will build on our promise of our consumers’ expectations.”

Last year, the government of Jammu and Kashmir inked an agreement with GO FIRST for the transportation of perishable horticultural and agricultural goods to various locations throughout the country.
