After a seasonal closure due to monsoon safety concerns, the iconic Dudhsagar waterfall in Goa is once again ready to captivate visitors.

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is not only resuming tourist activities but has also introduced an exciting new feature – jeep safaris, adding a thrilling dimension to this natural wonder.

New Online Management System

In a recent announcement at an event marking the revival of tourism at Kullem, GTDC Chairman Ganesh Gaonkar disclosed that the tourism corporation has initiated online booking for all activities related to Dudhsagar waterfall.

He further urged local panchayats to collaborate in the digitization efforts, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing facilities for both tourists and jeep operators.

Jeep Safari Season Begins

The commencement of the jeep safari season at Dudhsagar typically falls on the 2nd of October each year. To preserve the delicate ecosystem, a quota system has been put in place, regulating the number of jeeps allowed into the sanctuary.

On weekdays, approximately 170 jeeps are granted access, which increases to 225 on weekends. This regulated approach helps minimize disruption to indigenous wildlife, maintaining a harmonious flow of vehicles through Dudhsagar’s enchanting forested landscape.

Economic Lifeline for Locals

Tourism at Dudhsagar has become the primary source of income for local residents due to the closure of nearby mines.

Each registered jeep operator affiliated with the Forest Department carries about seven passengers, charging INR 500 per passenger, resulting in a total of INR 3500 per journey.

This not only boosts tourism but also supports the livelihoods of those in the region.
