IATA (International Air Transport Association), the nodal body in charge of global air travel has recently released the traffic data for the month of August 2022 and said that international aviation has made an incredible recovery since the COVID-19 pandemic.

IATA added that while the aviation industry has gradually recovered from the effects of the Coronavirus, the ranking of the world’s busiest routes has shifted significantly.

World’s Busiest International Air Route

Singapore

According to traffic data from August 2022, the peak of the IATA summer season, the Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Singapore (SIN) route, which has a distance of roughly 300 KM was the world’s busiest international route in August.

This is not surprising given the two cities’ extensive economic and cultural ties. Prior to the pandemic, this city pair was unquestionably among the top ten. It did not, however, take the top spot because the Hong Kong (HKG) to Taipei (TPE) route typically carried more passengers.

Flights are available from Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Scoot, Jetstar Asia, and AirAsia at almost any time of day.

Mumbai-Dubai Emerged As 6th Busiest Route

CSMIA

Mumbai (BOM) to Dubai (DXB) is the world’s sixth busiest international air travel route.

It is surprising to see Mumbai’s CSMIA on the list of busiest international routes because Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is the busiest international airport in the country and serves as the departure point for the majority of international flights.

However, what’s not surprising is the destination country of Dubai. According to Dubai International Airports, Indians are the most frequent visitors to the Middle Eastern country and part of the UAE.

Dubai Is A Popular Choice

According to the IATA traffic date for August 2022, Dubai has emerged as a preferred destination for travellers from all over the world. The high number of visitors to and from Dubai is due to two major factors:

  1. Dubai is a major employer of Indians who works in a country that is rapidly expanding. Because many Indian expats live in and around Dubai, they use the India-Dubai route more than any other air route.
  2. Dubai is a large transfer hub in the Middle East its international airport connects major cities across the globe, more importantly, in Europe and America.

Flight Operations Between India and Dubai

Many Indian airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir, and Vistara, have recently increased their service on the India-Dubai route. Regular flights on this route are also operated by international airlines such as Emirates and flydubai.

While Emirates and Air India use widebodies on this route, including Emirates’ flagship Airbus 380 and Boeing 777, and Air India’s Boeing 787-8, other airlines use single-aisle aircraft such as the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320.
