As the Covid-19 cases across the country continue to surge, people are once again afraid to travel canceling their plans; in the view of the same Indian national carrier Air India has announced that it will allow ‘One Free Change’ on all domestic flight bookings.

One Free Change; applicable to all confirmed tickets with travel period till 31st March 2022, Change is defined as Change In Date or Flight Number or Sector.

This means the airline will allow its domestic customers to change their entire booking and not just the date of travel.

“In view of recent uncertainties due to surge in COVID cases, Air India is offering 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄 of date or flight number or sector for all domestic tickets (098) with confirmed travel on/before 31.03.22.”

Air India Free Dare/Flight/Sector Change

Applicable to all 098 documents on Air India operated flights issued with PURE Domestic itinerary. Not applicable on Alliance Air flights.

Travel Date – Applicable to all tickets issued with current Travel Date on/before 31st March 2022 and passengers can rebook for new dates as per the validity of their existing tickets.

A free change option is offered irrespective of the date of purchase of the ticket.

Passengers availing Free change option have to necessarily follow respective timelines for change as per fare rules. Failure may result in a no-show.

In case of passengers decide to change sector ONLY re-issuance charges will be waived once, other charges will apply.

Applicable for all classes and also all types of concessionary tickets and FFP redemption tickets.

In case of change, the option exercised and the passenger is unable to get the same booking class for the new date, an applicable difference of fare will be charged.

  • In case same booking class is available but fare is higher, passenger will be given the benefit of not paying the additional charges.
  • In case, same booking class is available but tax differential is applicable, additional difference will be collected from the passenger.

Passengers who have already availed of a Free change under any earlier waiver can use this option to additionally avail of a change.

Any subsequent change, after availing of this one-time Free change will be governed by respective fare rules.
