India’s full-service air carrier Vistara is planning to expand its international network under the ‘Air Bubble’ transport agreements.

The airline is reviewing the opportunity to ferry passengers to and from Paris and Frankfurt using its recently acquired Dreamliner aircraft, commented Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer, Vinod Kannan.

Accordingly, the airline is also looking at additional, viable sources of income, including long-haul charter flights.

Last month, the airline started non-stop operations between Delhi and London’s Heathrow Airport using its Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner aircraft.

“In less than a month since our flights to London Heathrow started, we’ve seen reasonable demand on the route,” he said.

“In view of this reassuring reaction, we have increased our frequency from three to four flights a week between Delhi and London with effect from September 27, 2020.”

“We are currently examining the possibility of operating similar flights to Paris and Frankfurt, which the Dreamliner will also operate.”

In the domestic sector, Kannan has seen a steady return in demand, especially in large metropolitan areas.

“We are now working with 40 to 50 percent of our pre-Covid capacity and look forward to increasing flights to around 60 percent of our pre-Covid capacity,” said Kannan.

Kannan also stated that most of the pent-up demand was exhausted in the first few weeks after domestic air traffic resumed.
